Delivering Efficient Chilled Water and Low-Temperature Hot Water Distribution with REHAU PP-R
For this project, Mibec was contacted to support the implementation of a district energy system for Peterhouse Technology Park, a new science and tech hub in Cambridgeshire. Our team found it straightforward to identify a suitable large-diameter solution with effective thermal insulation to prevent energy losses, especially over long pipeline runs. We have worked closely with the REHAU team for over a decade and knew their PP-R pipe would be the ideal solution for this project.
Extending Renewable Heating at Bodaioch Hall with REHAU RAUVIPEX
Bodaioch Hall is a luxurious 10-bedroom country property nestled in the Welsh countryside near the village of Trefeglwys. As part of an expansion to develop the estate into a premium wedding venue, new buildings, including a purpose-built wedding barn, were added to the site. The project required the existing renewable heating network to be extended efficiently to ensure reliable heat distribution across both the original property and the new facilities. To meet the project’s requirements, RAUVIPEX pre-insulated pipe was selected as an alternative to the previously installed RAUTHERMEX system.
Delivering REHAU RAUVIPEX Pipe for a District Heating Network
Mibec was contracted to deliver pipe for a new residential development located on a golf course just south of Edinburgh. The development, composed of new-build properties, required an efficient and reliable district heating solution. To provide sustainable heating to its residents, the development opted for an air source heat pump (ASHP)- driven community heat network. To meet the site’s specific requirements, we chose the RAUVIPEX pre-insulated pipe system. The brand’s reputation, performance features, and innovative qualities guided the decision.

REHAU PP-R supports Solihull Hospital’s Decarbonisation by Connecting New Air Source Heat Pumps
The project involved installing approximately 250 metres of large-diameter (250mm, 400mm OD) REHAU PP-R pipework to connect newly installed Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHPs) to the hospital’s main plantroom. REHAU PP-R’s high thermal stability makes it ideal for carrying heated water from ASHPs, helping maintain system efficiency and reduce heat loss.
Portmeirion District Heating
Portmeirion is a picturesque, remote location which was developed between 1925 and 1975 in the Italian style of a Mediterranean village. As part of a £1m biomass investment at the popular tourist attraction, Mibec supplied over 3km of REHAU’s RAUTHERMEX pre-insulated polymer pipework.

District Heating at a Historic Military Base
To successfully provide district heating to a remote military base, we undertook the successful specification and delivery of REHAU RAUTHERMEX pre-insulated pipework and special pre-insulated underground valves. The base is in a remote location and is accessible via a service tunnel that can only be used by small vehicles.
21st Century Heating in a Period Home with Microflex
For this period home renovation, the existing oil boiler is being replaced with a new ground source heat pump, pre-insulated pipe work and heat interface units. Microflex Duo supplied by Mibec was installed to provide primary heating and sanitary hot water.
Supplying Eight Poultry Sheds with Heat
Mibec has completed the specification and delivery of REHAU RAUVITHERM underground pipework and underfloor heating pipework to eight purpose-built poultry sheds. The sheds rely on ground-source heat pumps and a biomass boiler for heat.
Ground Source Array for Luxury Holiday Lodges
Mibec supplied 2800m of ground collector PE pipe to the project which was then made into array loops and sunk into their pond to be used in connection with their ground source heat pump. The pipe array absorbs ambient heat from underground. The heat pump increases the water temperature, which is then supplied to a large calorifier before being supplied to the luxury holiday lodges, which also have solar PV and panel heating.

Mibec has recently undertaken the successful specification and delivery of our pre-insulated pipe for both domestic and commercial hot tub installations. Hot tubs are increasingly popular at holiday parks, small self-catering holiday lets as well as in average gardens as people seek to make the most of their home environment.
